Customize Your Own Birthday Pinata

img_9149There are hundreds of different pinata designs available on the market. For the majority of birthday party themes, you can easily find a coordinating pinata. However, there are some party themes such as Little Bear, Webkinz and Franklin the Turtle, where finding the perfect theme pinata proves to be somewhat of a challenge. Don’t worry I have a very simple solution. You can customize your own pinata. Now, I am sure you are suddenly wondering if you will need to learn how to make a pinata with paper mache, water, glue and balloons.  You could do that.  But, I actually have an easier way to create a theme pinata and you won’t even get that messy in the process.

Customizable pinatas come in a few different designs.  Most of them are round,  but you can also find them heart-shaped.   The front of a customizable pinata is blank. You can purchase a round mylar balloon that coordinates with your party theme and attach it to the front of the round pinata with tape or glue.   It should fit perfectly.  For example, if you are having a Handy Manny party, you could use a balloon with a tool design or if you are having a Franklin the Turtle party, you can use a balloon with turtles on it. You get the idea.  If there is a licensed mylar balloon available for the party theme, that would work great, too.

Another way to customize your pinata would be to decorate it yourself. Here is where the fun comes in. Depending on your birthday party theme, download images from the Internet, clip images from magazines, use stickers or whatever else you can come up with. Once you have all of your images and clip art, you can then use them to decorate the front of the pinata. Using glue or tape, attach the images randomly on the pinata in a collage pattern or you can create a design with your images if you chose to.  The best part of creating a custom pinata is that your child can help.  They will have a so much fun helping to create their own birthday party pinata.

That’s it!  Have fun customizing your birthday pinata.

Just added!  The guitar pinata you see pictured above was a custom pinata we created for my daughter’s Jonas Brothers birthday party.   We simply printed out a photo of the Jonas Brothers and a photo of the JB logo.  We glued the photos to the pinata and then formed a fun border with glitter glue.  It came out great!
